THE Gold Coast Titans have pulled off the NRL player coup of the year, signing Bulldogs superstar Jamal Idris to a rich five-year deal.
Titans boss Michael Searle and coach John Cartwright fronted a media conference this afternoon to confirm Idris would be headed to the Gold Coast next year, on a deal reputedly worth $1.8 million.
The Titans had been in a three-way tussle with the Bulldogs and Newcastle for Idris' services, but on the same day Wayne Bennett announced he was headed to the Knights, Idris revealed he was crossing the border to the Gold Coast.
The giant centre said he was excited about the prospect of linking with the Titans from next season.
"I'm really excited about what the Titans have to offer as a club and the change of lifestyle on the Gold Coast," he sad.
Searle has long been an unashamed Idris fan and said he would be a great addition to the Titans.
"He was very impressive when John Cartwright and I met him on the Gold Coast several weeks ago and I'm certain he's going to make a big difference to our playing roster and the club in general."
